Sam’s Tavern
A bioGraph memoir
Category: Book, Memoir
Sam’s saloon was established as soon as possible, before the crack of dawn on December 5, 1933, the day Prohibition ended. When you walk in and dust the snow off your shoes you’re greeted by ebullient bootleggers and Baptists who see right through you. You find wary smiles of farmers and factory workers who stare a thousand yards past you onto Armitage and Kilbourn, where gangsters are born to kill. You smile to see Sam and Gladys, partners in life and crime.
